About The Amaya Explorer

Roaming the Indonesia Archipelago for 11 months of the year, The Amaya Explorer is a 2019 built, impressive, 115 foot (35 meters), traditionally built Phinisi.

Crew Leader and her crew typically numbering 18, share a common mission: to showcase the best of what the Indonesian Islands and oceans have to offer, combined with world famous Indonesian hospitality.

The Amaya Explorer was built at Kampung of Bulukumba, Sulawesi and has been carefully designed to withstand the waters of the Archipelago. The expert boat builders there have passed their craft on from generation to generation, to allow them to create entirely wooden boats using traditional design and craftsmanship techniques which involve all hand tooling - no power tools. The Amaya Explorer was commissioned by our team; she took 2 years to build, then sailed to Bali to design and fit out the interior, providing a comfortable and relaxing experience incorporating all modern conveniencs for her guests and crew.

The Crew Leader of the Amaya Explorer, hailing originally from Jakarta but with a deep love for the waters of the Indonesian Islands. She has been coordinating the activities of the boat since launch.
